Barcelona have lodged a £72m offer for Liverpool midfielder Phillipe Coutinho.
According to The Daily Mail, Barcelona have bid for Coutinho as they look to add to their midfield options for next season.
The report does say that Liverpool will reject the offer and seek to keep hold of Coutinho.
Barcelona see Coutinho as a long-term successor to Andre Iniesta, who is coming to the end of his illustrious career.
The 33-year-old has one year left on his Barcelona deal and could choose to hang up his boots at the end of the season.
The Spanish outfit are looking for a replacement before that time comes and have identified Coutinho as the ideal target.
The report claims that Liverpool do not feel £72m is a fair representation of Coutinho’s value and that he is worth more than what Luis Suarez was sold to Barcelona for.
Suarez joined Barcelona in a club-record £75m deal.
