Arsenal in three-way battle for Real Madrid 26-year-old

Arsenal are reportedly battling with Liverpool and AS Roma for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez this summer, who is keen to leave in search of regular first-team football.

According to Diario Gol, the Gunners might be considering alternatives to AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez in the form of the 26-year-old Vazquez.

The wanted winger is believed to be considering his future at Real Madrid as a result of a lack of starts under Zinedine Zidane and could line up for one of three clubs in the coming weeks.

Arsenal have been linked with the Spaniard on and off this summer, but I don’t believe they are keen on his signature.

With Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain likely to remain at the club ahead of the new season, the Gunners don’t need another wide man providing competition.

That’s not to say Vazquez isn’t a talented player, having scored and created nine goals in 12 La Liga starts last season, while bagging a goal and assist in the Champions League.

Liverpool and Roma have also been linked with his signature, with the latter, in my opinion, being most likely to sign him based on Arsenal and Liverpool’s needs in the transfer market.
