There is a new twist in the Riyad Mahrez tale, as Spanish papers claim the Leicester City man offered himself to Barcelona after Roma’s bid hit €35m.
The Algeria international has made it clear he wants a transfer this summer, but his club continues to reject proposals from the Giallorossi, demanding €45m.
So far, the bid stands at €32m plus another €3m in performance-related bonuses, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
However, Roma face competition, as Spanish paper Sport claims that Mahrez sent out signals he is ready to join Barcelona as the replacement for Neymar.
The Blaugrana lost their Brazilian superstar for €222m, but have seen Liverpool and Juventus slam the door shut on prime targets Coutinho and Paulo Dybala.
Now Mahrez is hoping Barcelona can consider him a useful – and affordable – alternative.
