Sergio Ramos: I’m pleased for the Real Madrid youngsters

Spain and Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has hailed his Real Madrid teammates Isco and Marco Asensio as Spain thrashed Italy by 3-0 in their World Cup qualifying match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ramos, who himself assisted Alvaro Morata for Spain’s third goal of the night was particularly happy to see Real Madrid’s youth step up to the big occasion and deliver.

Speaking to ​Marca, Ramos said, “I’m pleased for the Real Madrid youngsters. They’re doing things really well and that’s important and very good for the national team.”

Speaking about how he felt Spain played against Italy, Ramos said, “I would give Spain a nine out of 10 for this match, as you can always improve, but it’s true that we did play a great game.”

Ramos also had some words for those minority fans who were seen whistling and booing Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. Ramos said, “We tried to ignore the whistles towards Pique.”

Speaking about the atmosphere in the stadium, the World Cup winner concluded, “The crowd responded and we are very happy.”

With this win, Spain are now favorites to book their place in next year’s FIFA World Cup.
