The European champions host Apoel Nicosia in the midweek but might lineup without the star French forward in their ranks. The Los Blancos have confirmed the state of his injury although they did not give a recovery time frame for the same.
An official club statement from Real Madrid stated, “Following tests carried out on Karim Benzema at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the semimembranosus of his right leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Real Madrid have started their title defence in an unusual fashion as they have now dropped four points from their first three La Liga matches of the season. Cristiano Ronaldo will be in line to start Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign as his ban is only limited to five games in domestic competitions.
