Jurgen Klopp has emphasised the importance of the Liverpool players remaining upbeat ahead of their clash against Leicester City.

The Reds endured a disappointing Tuesday evening at the King Power Stadium despite Liverpool producing a dominant first-half performance.

Klopp restored Philippe Coutinho to the starting line-up for the League Cup clash and the Brazil international produced a mesmerising performance in midfield.

However, the 25-year-old couldn’t help Liverpool to make a first-half breakthrough and Leicester netted two late goals to secure their passage to the fourth round.

Liverpool return to the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening in search of three points as Klopp looks to rejig his starting line-up following their mid-week disappointment.

Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of the Premier League clash, Klopp sent a positive message to his Liverpool players.

“For me, it’s important that I can help the players with staying really positive about this, plus changing the right things, plus including the right things,” Klopp said.

“We are still in a good moment but of course it’s the Premier League again and we need results and that’s what we want to go for.”

Liverpool collected seven points from their opening three Premier League games which included a resounding 4-0 victory over title rivals Arsenal.

However, the Reds are winless in their last four games since a 5-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium at the start of the month.

The Merseyside outfit are looking to build upon their fourth-place finish in their first full season under Klopp.
