Barcelona are looking for midfield reinforcements and Philippe Coutinho is not the only midfielder to have been added in the Red Devils’ shopping list. The Brazilian ace has been closely monitored by the blaugrana in the last few months with several offers that have been refused by the Premier League giants.
Coutinho pushed to leave Liverpool but the Reds refused to sell him forcing the talented Brazilian to remain at Anfield Road for one more season.
Now, despite some reports in Spain claim Barcelona will make a new Coutinho bid in January, Don Balon reveals the blaugrana could try to sign a cheaper Premier League star.
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde, in fact, is a long time admirer of Manchester United star Ander Herrera whose contract with the Red Devils expires in June 2018.
If Herrera fails to pen a new deal by the beginning of January he would be free to negotiate with any other club starting from the beginning of 2018.
Herrera is reportedly not happy with his game time and Barcelona could make an offer to sign him in January. If Manchester United refuse Barcelona’s offer and Herrera doesn’t sign a contract extension, the La Liga giants could sign the 28-year-old as a free agent at the end of the season.
