Serie A giants Juventus’ director Beppe Marotta has said that the Old Lady won’t be buying players in January, offering good news to Liverpool’s hopes of keeping Emre Can.

Liverpool star Emre Can, currently 23, has a contract at Anfield that expires at the end of this season and Juventus have already been linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich man.

The Old Lady, who picked up a 2-1 win over Benevento yesterday, are apparently looking to sign the Germany international on free when his deal runs out. The club’s director Giuseppe Marotta though, has played down reports of a move, saying that Juve won’t sign any players this January.

He told Rai 2: “We will not sign anybody in January. We are currently achieving our objectives in the Champions League, where we have a hard group.”

Can joined Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers back in 2014 and has become a key player since then, making nine Premier League appearances this season, grabbing two assists.
