Last try for Coutinho

With the transfer window opening on January 1st, Barcelona are set to continue their push for Coutinho having tried to find common ground with Liverpool over recent weeks without success, in a similar way to what took place over the summer.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is ready to press the situation in the coming hours but Klopp is not ready to sell, even if he is not quite as cutting as he was six months ago, and he says that the player is fundamental for their Champions League ambitions.

The problem for Barcelona is that they also want a player that they can put out in Europe and Coutinho would not be eligible having already played for Liverpool. It means that he would only be able to play in LaLiga games with the team already well placed to win that competition.

Still, Barcelona don’t want to ignore Coutinho now after making such an effort over the summer and so they will continue to do what they can to sign him even if he does not fit the bill in terms of his European availability.

Bringing in two players has also not been ruled out and that would depend on players leaving and the money available.
