The 22-year-old has been described as one of Jurgen Klopp’s key summer targets but it looked as though the manager’s former club Borussia Dortmund had edged ahead in the race.
Now, according to Basque outlet Deia, it is Serie A champions Juve who have made the first move to sign the forward.
The Turin club, like Liverpool and Dortmund, have been scouting Bilbao-born Williams for some time and very much like what they see.
And they have reportedly now opened up a line of communication with Athletic about a potential swoop when the window opens.
Williams has scored two goals in 26 La Liga appearances so far this term, following on from eight in 25 last season.
