Capello: Madrid like my Milan

Fabio Capello says Real Madrid are like “my great Milan team” for their mix of star names and humility and would start Isco over Gareth Bale against Juventus.

Capello led Madrid to two La Liga titles in two separate spells as Coach and guided Juventus to as many Scudetti, although both have since been revoked due to the Calciopoli scandal, and the Italian appeared to suggest Los Blancos were his tip for the Champions League Final.

“Who I’d like to coach? The winners,” he told Cadena COPE.

“Real Madrid have a better midfield than Juventus. The attack depends on how Higuain, Cristiano, Dybala and Benzema are.

“In defence, Juventus have a point in favour because they’re very well organised and they have a Coach who knows when to make changes, change tactics …

“Allegri is very smart. It’s hard to score goals against Juve.

“What I like most about Madrid is that they’re a very humble team. They fight, they run…

“They have quality, but they’re a humble team. That’s very important when you have great players.

“That’s the story of great teams: they have stars, but they’re always humble. That was what the great Milan team were like.

“In the last four or five games, their goalkeeper has one of their best players.

“Bale? It’s no business of mine. For me, a player who hasn’t played for a long time, I’d leave him on the bench.

“Isco’s in extraordinary form, physically and psychologically. Against Malaga and Celta, he had two very important games.

“Gago, Marcelo and Higuain? We signed them, Pedja Mijatovic and I. They seemed like interesting players, young lads who could do something.

“They worked very hard to improve and they improved. People think that they succeeded because they were lucky, but you can only succeed if you have quality and work hard.”
