Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu believes new Coach Ernesto Valverde has what it takes to make “the dreams of Cules a reality.”
Valverde was officially unveiled as Luis Enrique’s successor on Thursday, and Bartomeu is confident the Blaugrana have the “ideal” man to serve the club’s “level of excellent”.
“As we announced on Monday, Ernesto Valverde will be our Coach for the next seasons. We’re happy that he’s accepted Barca’s offer,” he said at a Press conference.
“I think he’s the ideal Coach for our team. He comes with important baggage and we believe he has a team to do a job at the level of excellence that Camp Nou demands.
“Camp Nou is our field of dreams and we hope he makes the dreams of Cules a reality.”
Valverde added: “I want to thank the President, Board of Directors and the sporting director for the confidence they’ve given me.
“It’s up to me to give back all this confidence, through my work and way of doing things.
“I feel a great responsibility for being at this club and having to respond to [the demands of] so many people.
“I know that it’s an exciting challenge and I’m loving it. My challenge is for Barca to be that bit better because they’re great as they are.”
