The good folk of the metro, are implying that Barcelona, as well as two other clubs are showing serious interest in the Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos.

The 23-year-old had an excellent season with the French side, stepping into the void left by the departure of his team-mate, David Luiz, to Chelsea.

According to our referenced source, Barcelona, who have coveted the young defender since he burst on to the scene with Roma, have offered Paris Saint-Germain €40 million for the player, although this, it has to be said, falls well below the valuation Paris Saint-Germain have put on the players head.

The waters are further muddied by the suggestion that Manchester United have tabled a bid of €70 million for the player, although there are suggestions this may have been lodged before the Premier League club signed Victor Lindelof, from Benfica.

As for the other club said to be interested, look no further than our rivals Real Madrid.

It could be an interesting few weeks, even more so if Paris Saint-Germain decide to cash in, although I doubt they have the need to.
