Leo Messi’s wedding
Football’s biggest wedding of the year will happen on Friday, as FC Barcelona star Leo Messi gets married to his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo in their hometown of Rosario in Argentina.

The wedding of Messi to the mother of his two children, Thiago and Mateo, has captured the attention of the world since the pair have known each other since age five.

A host of stars from the world of football will attend, but they’ll be some noticeable absentees.

Sorry, no invite
Comparisons are already being made to when Diego Maradona wed Claudia Villafañe in 1989 at Luna Park with a guest list of over 1,200 people including former Italy prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.

La Nacion point out today that Leo and Antonella will have 260 guests at their wedding this Friday.

Diego Maradona has not been invited.

Leo and Antonella were reportedly keen for a wedding that included close friends and family.

Luis Enrique and last season’s coaches at Barcelona also failed to get an invite from the club’s star player.

One ex-Madridista
When it comes to Real Madrid, the only player known to have been invited is PSG star Angel di Maria.

Of course, Messi and Di Maria have played alongside one another in the Argentine national team for years.

As for Cristiano Ronaldo, he’ll also miss the event, however he’ll be spending time meeting his new twin boys.

Suarez, Pique, Shakira & Cesc all expected
Leo Messi’s long time Barcelona team mate Andres Iniesta will also not be there due to the birth of his third child.

A host of other Barcelona team mates are expected in Rosario for the wedding.

These include Gerard Pique and his partner Shakira, the world famous pop star.

Luis Suarez and wife Sofia Balbi will also be there. Balbi and Roccuzzo run a clothes shop in Barcelona together.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who came through the Barcelona ranks with Messi, will also be present alongside partner Daniella Semaan.

Sergio Aguero and Ronaldinho will also be at the event.
