Former Atletico Madrid player, Theo Hernandez, will wear the jersey of their city’s rivals, Real, it was announced by the “Royal Club”.
Hernandez signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid, and clubs did not disclose financial transfer data.
According to Spanish media, Real has paid a €24 million buyout clause, and some media say that they even paid €30 million for Hernandez.
French footballer spent the last season on loan at Alaves.
After Real confirmed the transfer, Atletico also announced that Hernandez refused to extend his contract on several occasions.
“The player, who had a contract until 2021, has repeatedly rejected proposals for renewal of the contract, as well as offers from the various European clubs. At the same time, he repeatedly expressed his desire to cross into Real Madrid,” says in Atletico’s statement.
