Real Betis have confirmed both Real Madrid and Barcelona have contacted them over the transfer of in-demand midfielder Dani Ceballos.

The 20-year-old impressed at this summer’s Under 21 European Championships and the two La Liga giants now look set to battle it out for his signature.

“For the moment, we are planning towards the new season th at he will be our player,” president Angel Haro reporters on Thursday.

“We have had calls from both Real Madrid and Barcelona to express their interest in Dani.

“If he tells us that he doesn’t want to stay at Betis then we will work on that.

“We understand that he will get back to us soon as we don’t think he’ll need so much time to make a decision.

“He will have some days of holiday and will make a decision and at the moment his future does not depend on us.”

Ceballos reportedly has a release clause of €15m in his deal, although there are reports both clubs could offer more as the player would want Los Verdiblancos to maximise their negotiating position.
