Report Claims Real Madrid Star Would Consider Switch to Barcelona as Debate Over Future Continues

Wantaway Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has attracted interest from all across Europe already this summer but the Colombian has his eyes set on a very controversial move to Los Blancos’ bitter rivals, Barcelona.

The midfielder saw his game time limited last season under Zinedine Zidane last season and is keen on leaving the Bernabeu with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain all expressing an interest.

According to Don Balon, Rodriguez is aware that the club would not sell directly to the Blaugrana but has told Florentino Perez not to insert an ‘anti-Barca’ clause into his contract when he moves on this summer.

The likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Mesut Ozil and Angel di Maria have all had these clauses inserted meaning that Barca would have to pay a ridiculous amount to sign them, something Rodriguez wants to avoid.

If he can, it would leave him free to make his desired move to the Nou Camp in the future where the South American star feels he would flourish.

A move to Ernesto Valverde’s side would indeed be a controversial one with very few players crossing the El Clasico lines in recent memory.

Luis Figo and Luis Enrique are perhaps the two most high-profile cases and the former certainly felt the hostility that comes with such a move.

Rodriguez would likely be the natural successor to Andres Iniesta who is approaching the end of his glittering career.

The Blaugrana have been rebuffed in their pursuit of PSG’s Marco Verratti, so signing the Colombian in a year or so could be an option.
