Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to sign a new Manchester United deal after astounding the club’s medical staff by his recovery from injury.

The Swede suffered a serious knee injury in the Red Devils’ Europa League win over Anderlecht in April and was expected to be out of action for the rest of the year.

But according to the Sun , the 35-year-old is well ahead of schedule following surgery and could be fit again by October – when he could sign a short-term deal with the club until the end of the season.

Ibrahimovic was released by the Old Trafford side this month, after they declined to take up the optional second year on his two-year contract.

But they have allowed the striker to undergo his rehabilitation at their Carrington training ground alongside his own full-time physio and is making excellent progress.

United last week signed striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton in a £75million move.
