Chelsea are closing in on the signing of midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, according to reports in the British media.

Sky Sports is reporting that the Blues are set to finally tie up a deal to bring the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer after relentless speculation linking him with a move to the club.

The same story claims that Bakayoko will undergo a medical with Chelsea this week and that the player could join up with the rest of the squad for the pre-season trip to China and Singapore.

The article also states that Bakayoko’s move to Chelsea was delayed because he had “minor” knee surgery at the end of last season.

It is also claimed that Chelsea will be paying a transfer fee of around £35m and £40m to secure Bakayoko’s signature this summer.

Chelsea are likely to want to further strengthen their squad ahead of next season even after the addition of Bakayoko as the Blues prepare to return to the Champions League next term.

The west London side won the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge at the west London club.
