Alvaro Morata to Arsenal: Gunners ready to battle Chelsea for Real Madrid star

ARSENAL are prepared to battle Chelsea for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata as they plan for life without Alexis Sanchez, reports claim.

Real Madrid star Morata has been linked with moves to England with Manchester United and Chelsea throughout the summer.

United initially looked set to sign the Spain international before they rocked Chelsea by landing the Blues’ top target Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

Since then, Chelsea themselves have reportedly set their sights on signing the Spain international, with manager Antonio Conte desperate to land a new hitman to replace the outgoing Diego Costa.

Costa is primed to seal a move back to former club Atletico Madrid three years after leaving for Stamford Bridge in a £30million deal.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are planning for life without Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile international has told manager Arsene Wenger he wants to quit the Emirates so he can fulfil his dream of winning the Champions League.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Morata is now being eyed by the Gunners as a potential replacement for their current No7.

It is said Wenger feels Morata would be perfect alongside Alexandre Lacazette, who arrived from Lyon for £52million last month.

And the hope is that, together, they can help land Arsenal a first Premier League title win since 2004.

Chelsea remain keen on a deal but Wenger is now ready to fight the Blues for the Madrid forward.

And any bid for the 24-year-old could be funded by Sanchez’s sale with Arsenal likely to command a huge fee from potential suitors.

Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all keen on snapping him up.
