Raising funds for Mbappe

Real Madrid are the favourites to land Kylian Mbappe but a deal for the AS Monaco forward is still some way off.

The 18-year-old is valued at a whopping €190 million, a price tag that Madrid will looking to negotiate down. The sales of Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez (who has gone to Bayern initially on loan) and Danilo have raised funds.
Back-up targets

Above all, Madrid want to make sure that they bring in another forward before the season starts. Marca list two back-up targets on the Champions League holders’ radar in case their attempts to sign Mbappe are fruitless.

One is Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi. The 22-year-old Italy U21 international has been a star for the club for several seasons, scoring 54 Serie A goals over five seasons. He missed a lot of last season through injury.

The other is Ajax wunderkind Kasper Dolberg. The Swedish forward is only 19-years-old but scored 23 times for Ajax last season, including seven goals in their run to the Europa League final. Ajax don’t want to sell.
