Real Madrid could reportedly be ready to rival Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea for the transfer of Ousmane Dembele as they consider an alternative to their top target Kylian Mbappe.
The Spanish giants have been linked with the Monaco striker for much of this summer so far, but may now try their luck with a move for his fellow Frenchman, who could be considerably cheaper.
Reports last week suggested a move for Mbappe to make the switch to the Bernabeu for as much as £161million was gathering pace, though it has since been claimed that Monaco have upped their asking price.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Real are also concerned about the 18-year-old’s wage demands, which would put him behind only Cristiano Ronaldo in Madrid’s squad, and likely spark requests for considerable pay rises from others.
This has apparently seen them turn their attentions towards Dembele, who is another of Europe’s most highly rated young players after a superb debut season at Dortmund last term.
The 20-year-old is valued at around £80m, so would cost less than half what Monaco are asking for Mbappe, though Dortmund have publicly insisted the youngster is not for sale this summer.

‘Dembele has a long-term contract, he’s an essential part of our plans. There are no talks, Ousmane will play for us next season.’ Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said in June.
Real have a history of getting the players they want, and tend to bring in at least one ‘Galactico’ signing each summer.
