Real Madrid fans loved Sergio Ramos’ reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo shaking hands with Barcelona rival Lionel Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo did what he does best on Thursday.

No, he didn’t score a hat-trick, whip his shirt off, flex his abs for the cameras and break another ridiculous footballing record.

Instead he did the other thing he does very often, that’s right, he won an award.

The Portuguese was honoured with UEFA’s Best Player in Europe accolade during the Champions League draw in Monaco.

To be honest there wasn’t anyone else who was going to win it really, was there? Not after the season the Real Madrid forward – and his club – has had.

The 32-year-old beat Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to the award, and his long-time rival, Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

Over the years the Real Madrid and Barca duo have battled it out fiercely, and have pretty much taken it in turns winning the Ballon d’Or since 2008.

Photographers documented the star taking to the stage to collect his award after his name was called and their lenses followed him as he made his way back to his seat, where he greeted Buffon and Messi.

Much is always made of these sorts of situations, but it wasn’t the anticipated ‘friction’ between the duo that caught the eye.

Instead it was the reaction from Los Blancos defender Sergio Ramos that had everyone talking – or at least laughing.
