Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal has claimed that there is no truth to the rumours that Alexis Sanchez told his teammates about his move to Manchester City on deadline day before their World Cup qualifier defeat to Paraguay.
Sanchez was close to a move from Arsenal to Manchester City but the deal fell through late on after the Gunners failed to get a replacement.
There were reports that Sanchez was confident about the deal happening and even told his Chile teammates before the game against Paraguay but Vidal refutes these claims, stating that the Arsenal man was fully focused on the match and not on any potential transfer.
According to the Metro, Vidal said, “To whom? No, no, to nobody. Not to me. I don’t think so. I think it was all made up because he was very focused on today’s game.”
Arsenal had initially accepted a bid of around £60 million for their star man but their failure to get in replacement Thomas Lemar meant that they pulled the plug on the deal late on in the transfer window, something that made both Sanchez and Manchester City unhappy.
Sanchez is now set to stay at Arsenal at least till January when he could get a cut price move to Manchester City. However, it is likely that the 28-year-old will see out the final year of his contract with the north London side and leave on a free transfer next summer.
