Verratti: Not even Messi has come close to Isco level

Marco Verratti confessed he “suffered a lot against Isco” in Spain 3-0 Italy. Not even Leo Messi has come close to that level.”

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder was nutmegged and shrugged aside by brace hero Isco during last night’s World Cup qualifier at the Bernabeu.

“I suffered a lot against Isco,” Verratti told the Spanish media.

“I was taken aback by his performance. Not even Messi has come close to that level.”

Verratti, who had been linked with a move to Barcelona over the summer, has always struggled on Spanish soil, as PSG lost 6-1 in the Champions League against Messi’s Blaugrana.

Italy Coach Giampiero Ventura was also impressed with Isco.

“When I saw his nutmeg, I felt like standing up and applauding too,” said the tactician in his Press conference.
