Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta has praised the Bernabeu faithful after his side won 3-0 against Italy in Real Madrid’s home ground last night.
A brace from Isco and a goal from Alvaro Morata sealed a dominant victory for the home team against an Italian side who have not lost a World Cup qualifier for ten years and Iniesta was full of praise for the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, hailing the atmosphere as spectacular.
Speaking after the game, as reported by Marca, he said, “The atmosphere has been spectacular ever since we arrived on the bus.”

The fixture also saw the international return of Spain’s record goalscorer David Villa who has returned to the national team after a three year hiatus.
Iniesta said, “I am happy for David. In this moment it is his to enjoy and the fact is if he is here with the team then it is on merit.”
After failing to impress in the previous two international tournaments, Spain have now slowly rebuilt the side with manager Julen Lopetegui and the mixture of veterans likes Iniesta and Villa along with young and exciting talents like Isco and Marco Asensio gives them hope of a successful World Cup next year.
Spain are three points ahead of second placed Italy and have a better goal difference. Qualification is almost guaranteed but Iniesta does not want his side to take the foot off the pedal.
“We have played a very complete game both with and without the ball, we have been effective and have earned a victory that vindicated our way of playing. It would be a big mistake to think it is done and we are there, those of us involved know that nothing can be taken for granted until the end,” he added.
Spain next travel to Liechtenstein on Tuesday before wrapping up the qualifiers with ties against Albania and Israel in October.
