Manchester United Saving the No.7 Shirt for LaLiga star

Premier League outfit Manchester United have reportedly not assigned the number seven jersey number to any player yet because their Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho is saving it for Atletico Madrid’s French sensation Antoine Griezmann.

United failed to land the 26-year-old in the recent summer transfer window much due to Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban as Griezmann himself decided to stay on with Diego Simeone’s team until they find a viable replacement for him in the January transfer window.

Daily Star claim that Mourinho is now lining up a mammoth bid for the Frenchman in January. Atletico meanwhile value their player at €120m but recent reports claim that his release clause at the club is set at around €100m.

However, Mourinho will find it quite difficult to land the Frenchman in January as it is always considered a difficult transfer window for conjuring big deals in mid-season.

Griezmann has iterated his desire to join Manchester United on multiple occasions and if Atletico Madrid sign Diego Costa in January, the Frenchman could indeed join the Red Devils in next year’s summer transfer window.
