Karim Benzema believes the current Real Madrid squad is one of the strongest and most successful in the club’s illustrious history.

The 29-year-old striker, who’s contract at the Bernabeu expires in June 2018, also reiterated his desire of continuing his stay at the club beyond the current campaign.

“There are six or seven players here who have now been playing together for six or seven years,” Benzema noted on BeIn Sports.

“I think this is one of Real Madrid’s best periods ever, it’s that simple because the team is really very strong.

“It is not just the first-team regulars we have but also the quality of the substitutes that make the difference.

“A move away? When you’re at a club, especially one like Real Madrid, and are getting regular minutes then you have no reason to look for a move elsewhere.

“It’s a motivating factor to stay on top, starting every season from square one and working your way back to the top is a challenge we must meet.”
