Theo Hernandez has revealed he turned down ‘a number of options’ from other clubs before joining Real Madrid this summer.

The 19-year-old joined Los Blancos in the summer from cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid and had been linked to a number of other clubs including Barcelona.

“I was talking to my agent about a number of options but Madrid was the best,” Theo told a press conference.

“Here I can grow alongside the best players in the world to try and reach my maximum potential as a footballer.

“There is no pressure though, it was not hard to say yes to Madrid – I want to be here because it’s the best club in the world with the best players and I am here because I want to be.

“Marcelo? He is the best full-back in the world and I have to work hard to follow in his footsteps and learn from him.

“He is the best player to learn from and I will do all I can to get some games and follow what he does on the pitch.”
