German striker ‘happy’ with Madrid interest

Timo Werner has admitted he is revelling in hearing Real Madrid are interested in him despite being ‘totally focused’ on RB Leipzig.

Diario AS reported on Tuesday that the German international striker – who has seven goals in six appearances this season – was being tracked by Madrid officials.

“I’m very happy here at Leipzig and when I’m on the pitch, my only thoughts are about Leipzig – I’m totally focused,” Werner is quoted as saying by AS.

“At the moment I’m not thinking about Real Madrid or any other clubs, but of course it makes me happy to hear that clubs like Madrid are interested in me.

“I would be lying if I said it didn’t interest me.”

Werner has netted six goals in eight international appearances since making his Germany debut earlier this year.
