Gareth Bale admitted all he could do was continue to work hard in light of Real Madrid fans whistling him for perceived below-par performances.

The Welsh forward has been the subject of ire from the Spanish and European champions support but he admitted the only way he could stop them was with his on-pitch performances.

The 28-year-old went some way to quieten the fans with Madrid’s third goal in Sunday’s 3-1 win at Real Sociedad.

“These issues are part of football and you cannot do anything about it,” Bale told Movistar+ in the aftermath of the game.

“You have to keep working hard so it doesn’t happen.

“The most important thing here was the win and three points. It was a game and a result that we needed.”
