L’Equipe: Asensio world’s best young player

French sports newspaper L’Equipe have named Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio as the best young player in the world.

Asensio was crowned the winner of a 50-man list of players aged 21 or under, with Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe completing the top three.

The Madrid forward was one of five Spanish youngsters who made the cut alongside teammates Dani Ceballos and Jesus Vallejo (15th and 31st) with Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler (40th) and Real Sociedad defender Mikel Oyarzabal (44th) also included.

In total, nine La Liga players were on the list with Barcelona’s only representative being Ousmane Dembele (4th) while Los Blancos defender Theo Hernadez (28th) and brother Lucas, at Atletico Madrid (42nd) were also included, along with Villarreal’s Enes Unal (47th).
