Former Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu will celebrate if he scores against the club with Sporting CP on Wednesday.

The Frenchman has started all ten of the Portuguese giants games this season after joining the club on a free transfer from the Catalans this summer.

Now he has revealed that if he nets against the Blaugrana, his celebration will be aimed at president Josep Maria Bartomeu and sporting director Robert Fernandez.

“If I score I will celebrate but only because of Bartomeu and Robert,” M athieu – who spent three years at the Camp Nou – told an interview with Marca.

“At Sporting I have felt very comfortable from my first day at the club, it feels like my spell at Valencia as it’s a family club.

“Barcelona? It was a fantastic experience for me to share a dressing room with players like that but I would call them colleagues rather than friends, who would be more important to me.

“In Catalonia I played a lot of football and won titles, so these are happy memories for me.

“People are wrong when they say I did not play a lot – in my first season I took part in 58% of games and in the second between 53-54%, and it would have been more had I not had injuries.”
