Real Madrid’s star youngster Marco Asensio was rewarded with a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2023 after which he revealed that he does not think about winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or trophy as of now.
The 21-year-old has been tipped to be a future world beater thanks to his brilliant performances for Zinedine Zidane’s team since last season. Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo too praised Asensio in his recent interview.
Speaking to Marca, the humble Asensio said, “Receiving praise from Cristiano Ronaldo is a joy. But I don’t think about winning the Ballon d’Or because I’m young and everything will happen when it happens.”
Real Madrid will be absolutely ecstatic that a potential future world class player has extended his deal by six-years at the club, which is more than any of the other Madrid players.
Asensio continued, “It is a very important day for me. Renewing the contract with the biggest club in the world is a source of real pride. Last season was a great year, where I grew a lot.”
Speaking about Zinedine Zidane and the time he will be getting to play on the pitch, Asensio said, “Zidane knows how to deal with me. I have my personal goals and my goal is always to play, but I understand that he has to allocate minutes to others because we are a team.”
