Ronaldo’s journey from an exciting teenager at Sporting Lisbon, to one of football’s greatest ever players and four time Ballon d’Or winner has been truly amazing to witness.
However, a message on Ronaldo’s boots, shows how the Portuguese ace remains humble and never forgets where he came from.
Ronaldo has confirmed that he has the same four words printed onto the heel of his boots for every football match and reads them before playing.
‘El sueno del nino,’ are the words put on every pair, which translates from Spanish to ‘Dream of a child’.
This is according to Ronaldo himself, who explained to Nike Football and Rio Ferdinand in a recent interview why he has those four words etched onto his new CR7 diamond boots.
“It [means]: Dream of a kid. It was my dream to play here, for this club. It’s good because I’m part of the history and part of the boot,” said Ronaldo in the full interview via GiveMeSport.
However, the words are yet to offer Ronaldo much fortune this season, with the Real Madrid ace still yet to open his goalscoring account in La Liga.
The Spanish top-tier is already seven games into the new season, but the Portuguese still hasn’t found the back of the net, although he has only featured three times after picking up a red card against Barcelona in the cup.
However, any suggestions that Ronaldo could be tired were denied by Zinedine Zidane after the most recent 2-0 Espanyol win, with the Real boss believing it won’t be long before he bags a goal:
“It is not that [Ronaldo] is tired, just the opposite – he was out for a lot of games,” claimed Zidane to ESPN.
“We are a bit disappointed for him as he has not yet scored in La Liga, but this is football. His assist for Isco was phenomenal. I hope things change in the next game.”
