Soon retiring Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo has no doubt that his fellow countryman and former coach Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches in world football at the moment.
The New York City FC midfielder who has decided to hang up his boots at the end of the calendar year worked under the current Chelsea manager during his stint at Juventus and on international duty with Italy.
Pirlo spoke to Gazetta Dello Sport and highlighted Conte’s contribution in his career. He said, “His (Conte;s) attention to detail is impressive. He also manages to give you convincing explanations about things.”
The FIFA World Cup winning midfielder continued, “One of his 20-minute video sessions is worth three days on the training ground. You immediately understand what it is you have to do. Over the years he improved, with his desire to win and doing everything to the best of his ability.”
Pirlo then hailed Conte as he stated, “He is one of the best, absolutely.”
The Italian legend also spoke about the current Italian national team setup and that the current formation does not benefit the national team. He said, “At the start, with the 3-5-2 that Conte used they had some decent performances. Since the change of formation, it has been average.”
