Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane reveals Cristiano Ronaldo is “a big role model of mine” and that he will use Zinedine Zidane’s praise as ‘motivation’.

Zidane hailed Kane as a ‘complete’ player before Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday, while the striker pitted his wits against Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu, before swapping shirts with the Portuguese.

“I asked for his shirt at the end,” he told the Mirror.

“He was a big role model of mine growing up. It’s a nice shirt to get. I will frame it. I gave him my shirt. I don’t know what he’ll do with it!

“It was a great night for us. One we can be proud of — the fans can be proud of. The whole club can be proud.

“Zidane’s praise? I try to use that as positives. I’ve said before that positive comments help a striker, I try to use it as motivation.

“Not just me, we’ve got a whole squad, a whole team working very hard.

“But when you’ve got a striker scoring goals, it’s natural for people to talk about that. I use that as a positive — try to use it for confidence moving forward.”
