Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has opened about why he didn’t move to Manchester City in an interview with French daily L’Equipe. The Frenchman, now 23, has been on the radar of some of the continent’s top clubs for quite some time now and has become a vital cog in the Basque side’s wheel. He has made eight appearances for the club this season. Speaking of Manchester City to L’Equipe, the defender said: ” I had the chance to leave but I did not feel it. , also because I was injured and did not want to leave so.”
Not just that, but Laporte was also open about interest from Antonio Conte’s Chelsea. He said: “Chelsea’s interest? I can not say anything , it’s a personal thing. ” The Blues had drawn links with a possible for Laporte this past summer, but Conte’s men never really came up with a substantial offer that could lure him away from Bilbao.
