Manchester United want Real Madrid tough guy Casemiro to bolster their midfield, according to the latest reports from England.

The Manchester Evening News say that the Red Devils are ready to rival PSG for the two-time Champions League winner, and that they are willing to offer “a wage packet close to that of top earner Paul Pogba in a bid to convince him to move.”

The Sun confirm that Jose Mourinho is a big enthusiast, and that he worked with the Brazilian at the Santiago Bernabeu, and rates him enough to be willing to offer €300.000 a week to him.

Yet there’s one thing that doesn’t quite make sense: Casemiro only emerged to play regular first-team football a lot later, namely under Zinedine Zidane.

The Brazilian is respected for his energy, tough tackling and read of the game.

It’s hard to see why Manchester United would want to replace what they have right now, their centre midfielder full of talented players, newcomer Nemanja Matic performing very well indeed.
