Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned FIFA’s men’s player of the year on Monday night for a second year running – and viewers loved Lionel Messi’s reaction.
The Real Madrid star pipped his Barcelona rival and Neymar to scoop the prize, his fifth individual FIFA award in total.
Portugal’s captain scored 44 goals in 48 appearances in 2017, notching 33 for Los Blancos and 11 for his national team.
Ronaldo also won the Champions League and the Super Cup under Zinedine Zidane.
Despite falling short, Messi watched his adversary collect the prize with a big a smile on his face.
The Argentine’s reaction immediately led to many praising the 30-year-old and comparing it to when Ronaldo watched Messi win one of his five Ballon d’Ors.
