Inter rival Man City, Juve for Atletico defender

Inter’s owners have approved the approach for Jose Gimenez, FCInterNews can exclusively reveal.

The Uruguayan has gone from playing a starring role at the Vicente Calderon two seasons ago to being a stranger at the Wanda Metropolitano. He has been pursued by Manchester City and Juventus, too.

With Inter already buying Joao Miranda from the Colchoneros, there is good precedent here. Management (canny defensive recruiter Walter Sabatini) has identified the young Uruguayan as the ideal partner for Milan Skriniar, and has received the green light from owner Jindong Zhang.

Though some rumours indicate that Gimenez may have signed an extension this summer with the Liga contenders which will keep him there until 2021, the signs are good for Inter, as Gimenez doesn’t get on with Diego Simeone any more. Thing is, he has a €60 million release clause, Inter hoping they can get a discount.

Gimenez is still only 22, and is an international with Uruguay.
