Reports emerging in the press, on Friday, have implied that the Barcelona legend that is Xavi, is set to hang up his boots at the end of the current season.
Xavi, now 37-years-of-age, left Barcelona back in 2015 after 17 years with the club, during his time at the Camp Nou Xavi won 31 trophies with on Iniesta being able to better that feat.
Now playing in Qatar with Al-Sadd, Xavi has admitted that he now feels the time to call it a day as a player is approaching with a possible move in to coaching beckoning, with the midfielder remarking to the Spanish news source Sport,
‘It will surely be my last year of being a footballer. I have the idea of getting my coaching licence next year and being a coach.
‘I’ve had luck not to be injured and I think my career has come towards its end.
‘There’s been a descent. Qatar allowed me this. Now I see myself being more tired, it’s harder to recover.’
Father Time catches up with us all in the end but Xavi has had a wonderful career and it`ll be interesting to see where he starts his coaching career if that is the path he chooses to follow.
