French defender Samuel Umtiti has shone like a star since moving to Barcelona last season. With his play garnering accolades across the world, so has his value on the transfer market.
The 25-year-old came from Lyon for, what today is now a laughable €25 million transfer fee. The total brings him in below his peers Gerard Deulofeu (35 million) and Sergio Roberto (40 million). Now, after his stellar play, his value has been estimated around €60 million.
Rumors have swirled about Jose Mourinho’s desire to bring him to Old Trafford, but it appears the interest is not mutual. Marca is reporting, despite the promise of wage increases, Umtiti does not want to leave for Manchester United. In fact, he’s so committed to Barcelona that he isn’t even using his newfound leverage and pressing them for a raise.
It seems as though Umtiti is quite happy at Camp Nou, and will continue to call it his home for many years to come.
