Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo won the award “Goal 50” as the best player in 2017, awared from the international football website Goal.
The 32-year-old striker defended the title after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League for the second time, as well as La Liga.
Ronaldo defeated Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Luka Modric and Lionel Messi to win the best player in the world for this year.
Ronaldo scored 25 goals in 29 appearances for Real Madrid on La Liga, but it was the Champions League where the Portuguese was again reborn.
Messi, who has had the best individual stats over the past 12 months, is rated only the fourth in the world by Goal.com, due to the lack of titles.
