Javier Tebas confirms VAR in La Liga next season
La Liga president Javier Tebas made a few announcements on Tuesday.
Tebas is a man under fire somewhat having seen Neymar leave Barcelona for PSG in the summer.
And, with the ever growing Premier League starting to prove itself in the Champions League this season.
Whilst there is also the Catalonia independent issue playing on the mind of Tebas as well.
The big headline from Tebas’ meeting with reporters today was that La Liga will utilise VAR next season.
Tebas said: “Next year we will have the VAR in La Liga, there is no doubt. We are moving very fast in this regard and we will soon be ready.”
Javier Tebas discusses Leo Messi’s Barcelona contract
With Neymar’s exit still damaging for La Liga, Tebas was also asked about the two star men of La Liga.
Whilst Barcelona have announced that Leo Messi signed a new contract, there remain rumours that the Argentine superstar has not actually personally signed the deal.
Tebas thinks its a done deal: “Messi has a contract which has been renewed. Contracts are official when they are signed and not when it is announced that they have been signed. Messi has signed with Barcelona, if I have not been lied to, he has signed.”
Javier Tebas doesn’t think Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Real Madrid
Over the past 24 hours, there have again been claims that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid.
Tebas, thinks his other star man is going nowhere.
The La Liga president said on Ronaldo: “Does Cristiano Ronaldo want to go? I do not know, it’s the nineteenth time he says he is going, so I do not know what to say. He has many years of contract with Real Madrid and I do not think he wants to close his cycle.”
Effectively, Tebas is saying the 2018/2019 La Liga season will start with Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi exactly where they are now…
