Former Real Madrid star close to joining Barcelona

Mesut Ozil is close to sealing a move to Barcelona, according to the latest reports.

The Arsenal star is nowhere near the form established two seasons ago, when he nabbed eighteen Premier League assists.

Raul Sanllehi is apparently the man who brokered the deal: he is a Barcelona director who is reportedly heading to Arsenal.

According to Catalan paper Sport, however, there are still details to be sorted out.

One of them is the fee. Then again, it will probably be cheaper to sign the former Real Madrid man than Philippe Coutinho, whose €135m pricetag is considered too high by the Catalans.

Barcelona want to further enrich their squad after losing Neymar last year for a huge €222m.

Yet Nacho Monreal recently stated that both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, claiming that:
“The feeling is that they will continue. At no time have we talked about the possibility of them leaving. Not at all. They are committed to the group and we will see what happens.
