Sergio Ramos: We will keep improving

Real Madrid shook off the asterisk that has accompanied them in the LaLiga table for two months by playing their game in hand against Leganes, winning 3-1 to move into third place.

The gap to leaders Barcelona has been reduced to 14 points and captain Sergio Ramos hopes to move even closer.

“These victories always help to boost morale,” he said after the full-time whistle.

“Despite the bad results, this is the path to follow.

“We’ve turned things around and we’re achieving our objectives little by little.

“We will keep fighting in LaLiga and will try to cut the gap by as many points as possible.

“We will keep improving and trying to concede as few goals as possible.”

Ramos got on the scoresheet in the match and explained that he is one of the second-choice penalty takers after Cristiano Ronaldo Bale, who was rested.

“Whenever Ronaldo isn’t here, then it’s either Bale or me,” he explained.

“We alternate.

“There’s no rivalry.”

Finally, he was asked about his feat of reaching 550 appearances, but said the most important thing was earning the three points.
