Mohamed Elneny Responds To Picture Of Young Arsenal Fan Crying

Whilst Manchester City ran riot against a poor Arsenal performance it wasn’t the image of Pep Guardiola’s side playing their opposition off the park that will live long in the memory but a shot of one young Arsenal fan crying. One Arsenal player has responded.

Plenty of Arsenal fans around are getting used to the sight of their team being totally dominated by one of the other sides in the top six so Sunday afternoon in the Carabao Cup final wasn’t exactly a surprise.

What will sting Gunners’ fans is the fact that Manchester City didn’t exactly need to be at their all conquering best and the defeat was more down to Arsene Wenger’s side’s own failings.

However the final won’t be remembered for City’s three goals, Arsenal’s poor defending or even for being Arsene Wenger’s last domestic final as Arsenal manager, should it turn out to be, but for one young Arsenal fan.

In the dying embers of the match, with Arsenal already 3-0 down, one fan was captured balling his eyes out and tugging on the heartstrings. Now Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has responded:

The Egyptian midfielder was part of the squad at Wembley but didn’t get on the pitch with Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Jack Wilshere preferred ahead of him in the centre of the pitch.

Xhaka was especially at the end of a lot of criticism on social media at the end of the game.

Elneny’s message is certainly a nice one and fans will be happy to see passion from at least one player after it seemed like none of them had any to give on the pitch on Sunday:
