Independent: Mourinho plan for summer overhaul

According to Miguel Delaney, Manchester United board is fully behind Jose Mourinho and support their intensions to make the squad even better.
Jose Mourinho is keen to bring another centre-back to partner Eric Bailly with Samuel Umtiti and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld being on the list

The Portuguese is also looking for another midfielder with Napoli’s Jorginho, Shakhtar’s Fred, and Nice’s Jean Michael Seri mentioned among targets.

The board are hopeful Mourinho will heal his rift with Paul Pogba as the latter is considered a valuale asset. There’s a minor possibility a swap deal Pogba-Marco Verratti could happen as the two players have the same agent in Mino Raiola.

Meanwhile, the club may face a problem negotiating with David De Gea over a new deal. The Spaniard’s contract runs until 2019 with an option to extend it for one more season, but the club fear De Gea may start asking for much more than initially planned given his importance to the team and a lucrative Alexis Sanchez deal that clearly puts the Chilean ahead of the rest.

It should be noted, however, that another British newspaper, Daily Mirror, has recently claimed just the opposite – that the Manchester United board will not grant Mourinho the money he needs and the Portuguese may head for PSG, instead.
