Neymar or Antoine Griezmann? Dani Carvajal picks who he would rather Real Madrid sign

Given the choice, Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has revealed that he would sign Neymar over Antoine Griezmann.

Neymar only just signed for Paris St-Germain last summer for a world record £200m fee, but reports have surfaced recently suggesting that the Brazilian could move to Los Blancos in the summer.

When asked who he would prefer to play alongside, Carvajal stated that he favours Neymar ahead of Atletico Madrid star Griezmann, due to his previous experiences defending against the Brazilian.

“Difficult… as I have suffered, I would sign Neymar,” he told El Transistor (via Goal).

Neymar missed his side’s clash against Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League and had to watch from the sidelines as the Parisians lost 5-2 on aggregate to the Spanish club.

Madrid are currently 15 points adrift of rivals Barcelona who lead La Liga, and Carvajal believes the importance of success on the European stage is crucial for the club as they are presently enduring a difficult domestic campaign.

“It was crucial, in the middle of March to only have the league left would have been very bad for us,” he said.

“We knew that we were going to face them at 200 per cent and that was how it was.”

Real Madrid play Juventus in the quarter-final of the Champions League on 3 April.

Is Neymar the better choice?
Certainly a close call, but Carvajal has probably made the right choice.

Before Neymar got injured he scored 20 goals in as many games in Ligue 1 this season. He is the league’s second leading goalscorer behind fellow PSG player Cavani, and has created 13 assists for his team mates.

Griezmann has not been as prolific as Neymar in Spain, but the Frenchman has racked up a handsome goal tally this season, scoring 16 goals in 25 appearances. He is also behind Neymar in assists, but he has succeeded in creating eight for his team mates this season
